I'm so proud! Finally, after 22 years... her wish came true! :) TEAR.
Yes, I went straight from work! I wanted to see Christel before she leaves this Saturday, so, that was like our last goodbye. I also met her classmates from college and made new friends which is always fun and exciting! :D
Britney Spears was at Alicia Keys' concert last night at L.A.’s Staples Center. And so were Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo.
The show rocked. Man, has Ms. Keys grown into one fantastic jaw-dropping performer. Her voice filled that entire ginormous arena and then some.
During her show, Keys urged everyone to take out their cellphones and text the word Alive to the number 90999 to donate just $5 to help fight HIV/AIDS in Africa through the Keep a Child Alive organization. I did.
I sure hope Britney, Nick and Vanessa did, too.
Yes, my sister and I went to her concert last night... on a WEEKDAY (try Monday!), haha! It was worth it thought... she was fantastic!, she was SO beautiful, and she performed my favorite songs from her "As I Am" album... (As I Am [Intro], Sure Looks Good To Me, Prelude To A Kiss, Superwoman, Wreckless Love, Go Ahead, Like You'll Never See Me Again, I Need You, and of course, No One)... Jordin Sparks and Ne-yo opened the show, so, that was like a bonus. I hope Britney finds inspiration... :)
*My pics are all blurry and ugly... there's no point posting it.
... who's deeply "in love." HAHAHA!!! I don't even know if I can mention your name here, but whatever! The point is YOU like someone and YOU need to tell him/her FASSSSTTTT! I'm currently reading LOVE IN THE TIME OF CHOLERA, and my god!!! It took Fermina and whoever-the-guy-is 50 plus years to be together! WHAT THE HELL! Life is short, go for the gold... you'll know when you know, you know??? AS IF I know ANYTHING about love, HAH! Well, anyway, I enjoyed reading your blog... I was frickin' smiling the whole time!!!! SERIOUSLY. :D Big smile. Plus, it was so weird... "Tell You Something" by Alicia Keys was playing on the background when I was reading it, WEIRD. It's a perfect song for you! Sooooo, here... I want you to listen to it... and I'm sure you're going to say how corny/cheesy/bllllleeechhh I am. HAHA!!! But, we've known each other for over *thinks* THIRTEEN YEARS... so, WHATEVER. I'm just happy for you... kahit hindi mo ako chinismisan! Hahaha!!!
So, yes... another book down. :) Well, what can I say??? The book was alright... I mean, if you don't like history, you'll be dead bored! :) But, I like history, so... I enjoyed reading it! I looked at it as if I'm reading the latest issue of People magazine. Haha! Anyway, the book was (obviously) about the American Revolutionary War... my favorite parts were Battle of Dorchester, capture of Fort Washington (in NY!), and of course the tales of the fallen heroes (ex: Nathan Hale: he was described as being "handsome"...naawa tuloy ako when he died! Haha!).
I swear, that movie made me cry! :,( I thought it was VERY GOOD but my sister said it was "so-so" because she read the book. (It's always like that anyway... book better than the movie version.) But, anyway, bottom line, I recommend this book/movie to everyone... you can't miss this!
***SPOILER***
Awww, I was so touched when Amir was reading Hassan's last letter and when he "adopted" Hassan's little boy, Sohrab. I was crying like shiiiiit... those were the best parts. And also, when Amir was carving "Amir and Hassan: The Sultans of Kabul" on a tree, and, and ... and... when Amir read Hassan's favorite story because it was his birthday... and, HAHA! Well, actually all the scenes where they showed Amir and Hassan's beautiful friendship, I think those were the best!!! :)
WA-PACK!!! I haven't personally used it... (but, I got so excited!), I needed to blog about it at 2:33 in the morning! Hahaha! :D Better download the new version!
We know you’ve waited a long time for this… The new version of Yahoo! Messenger for Mac Beta now has voice calling!
With this new version, you can make free PC-to-PC calls or sign up for a Phone Out account to make calls from your Mac to regular or mobile phones worldwide for as low as 1¢ a minute (see rates). And if you want friends to be able to call you on your Mac from any phone, sign up for a Phone In account and choose a number.
Now that our Mac version has voice, users can also enjoy two other handy features: free voicemail and call forwarding. If you’re away from your Mac or signed out of Yahoo! Messenger, friends can leave you a voicemail which is then delivered as an email attachment to an address of your choice.
If you want to make sure you don’t miss any calls, use the call forwarding feature to immediately send incoming calls to any regular or mobile phone number. Note that you do need a Phone Out account to use call forwarding.
There is also a new Voice & Calls section in the preferences menu. From there you can set what email address should receive your voicemails, what number your calls should get forwarded to, and handy things like whether or not you want iTunes to pause when a call comes in.
You’ll find the voice features in a new “Voice & SMS” button in your IM window. From there you can start a call, or send a free SMS (text) message to a friend’s mobile phone (note that your friend may be charged for receiving your SMS message depending on their mobile phone data plan).
The main contact list window also has a button near the bottom that opens up a dial pad. This is handy if you have a number you need to call that’s not associated with a contact.
If you’re curious about the voice features but aren’t ready to sign up for a Phone Out account (or don’t have a friend you can call for free on PC-to-PC), try the “Make a free test call” button in the Voice preferences menu. During the free call you can record and playback your voice to check out the quality.
We really want your feedback on this new version, so after you’ve had some time to try it, please visit our feedback page to let us know what you like and don’t like.
I went to Disneyland last Thursday... my last visit was just like three weeks ago, but I'm back, haha! Our relatives from Chicago were here in LA, so, my Tita invited me to go---how can anybody resist Disneyland?!? Anyway, since, I'm a SoCal "resident," I figured I should probably buy an Annual Pass to save money in the long run (One Day Tickets cost $66!).
I had fun despite the long lines and hot weather. :) I went on the Matterhorn Bobsleds, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Indian Jones Adventure, Autopia, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Mad Tea Party, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Haunted Mansion, Mark Twain Steamboat, and *drumroll* the best one of all... Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes (my first time canoeing)!
Anyway, the only reason I wanted to go was because FANTASMIC is back! :) I was sooo excited to see the show again! But, I must say... I was kind of disappointed they used less fireworks! Hahah! It's probably because of the new fireworks display show called "Remember... Dreams Come True." Back to Fantasmic, I still enjoyed it though and it's still my favorite show. :) I was SUPER excited to see the Mark Twain steam boat and all the Disney characters (love, love, love Prince Eric)! :D
PS: If anyone is visiting this summer, don't forget to invite me if you're going to Disneyland! My cousins from Chicago totally liked me and my SCREAMING! :D I lost my voice today because I screamed waaaay too much when we were on Big Thunder Mountain, Matterhorn, and Indian Jones (I wasn't scared... I just wanted to make them laugh :D).
TO THIS: 'Glory Days' Announces Original Cast To Move To B'Way
Glory Days, a new musical by Nick Blaemire (Music and Lyrics) and James Gardiner (Book) will open at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre (235 West 50th Street, NYC) on Tuesday, May 6 at 6:45PM. Previews will begin on Tuesday, April 22 at 8PM.
Glory Days received its world premiere at DC's Signature Theatre (January 2008) in a sold-out, critically-lauded production, directed by Signature Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer (Broadway's Putting It Together), who will recreate his staging for Broadway. Glory Days marks Signature's first direct-to-Broadway transfer.
The production will feature the acclaimed Signature cast: Steven Booth (Will), Andrew C. Call (Andy), Adam Halpin (Skip), and Jesse JP Johnson (Jack).
Glory Days is the story of four best friends who reunite a year after high school graduation, only to find how much they have grown apart. As they attempt to understand each other's differences, they soon realize that nothing can compare to the glory days of high school when life was simpler. Set to a vibrant score, GLORY DAYS is a witty, unflinching look at four guys who refuse to be defined by generational stereotypes as they struggle to find their place in the world.
At 23 years old, Nick Blaemire (Music and Lyrics) is making his Broadway debut this season both as a songwriter with Glory Days and as a performer in the ensemble of Cry-Baby. James Gardiner (Book), is also 23 years old, and is making his debut as a book writer with..
Led by director Eric Schaeffer, the creative team also includes James Kronzer (scenic design), Sasha Ludwig-Siegel (costume design), Mark Lanks (lighting design) and Peter Hylenski (sound design). Vocal arrangements are by Nick Blaemire and Jesse Vargas. Arrangements and orchestrations are by Jesse Vargas.
Glory Days will be produced by John O'Boyle, Ricky Stevens, Richard E. Leopold and Lizzie Leopold, and Max Productions in association with Signature Theatre.
Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind. These passions, like great winds, have blown me hither and thither, in a wayward course, over a great ocean of anguish, reaching to the very verge of despair.
I have sought love, first, because it brings ecstasy - ecstasy so great that I would often have sacrificed all the rest of life for a few hours of this joy. I have sought it, next, because it relieves loneliness--that terrible loneliness in which one shivering consciousness looks over the rim of the world into the cold unfathomable lifeless abyss. I have sought it finally, because in the union of love I have seen, in a mystic miniature, the prefiguring vision of the heaven that saints and poets have imagined. This is what I sought, and though it might seem too good for human life, this is what--at last--I have found.
With equal passion I have sought knowledge. I have wished to understand the hearts of men. I have wished to know why the stars shine. And I have tried to apprehend the Pythagorean power by which number holds sway above the flux. A little of this, but not much, I have achieved.
Love and knowledge, so far as they were possible, led upward toward the heavens. But always pity brought me back to earth. Echoes of cries of pain reverberate in my heart. Children in famine, victims tortured by oppressors, helpless old people a burden to their sons, and the whole world of loneliness, poverty, and pain make a mockery of what human life should be. I long to alleviate this evil, but I cannot, and I too suffer.
This has been my life. I have found it worth living, and would gladly live it again if the chance were offered me.
HAHAHA! :) It's been, erm, approximately FOUR MONTHS since the last time I used my brain cells. I feel so dumb now! Soooo, I decided to take up a new hobby--one that would MILDLY exercise and increase the blood flow in my brain... READING!!!! :D Yey!
I just finished my first book for this year... FLUSH by Carl Hiaasen. I liked it... I mean, the story was fast-paced, TIGHT (I mean, concise or straight to the point), and of course SMART. I hate it when authors add senseless paragraphs just to make their novels loooooong, just for the heck of it to make me miserable and bored to death... *sigh*
Anyway, I usually switch between books when I read. I don't know why... it's just MY thing! Hahah! That's the reason why it takes me a while before I could ever finish one! (Note: Well, actually because I leave these certain books in certain places... I only prop them open when they end up close to me. Ex: 1776 is ALWAYS in my purse... good for waiting at the DMV, Doctor's office, etc. AND Love in the Time of Cholera is on my bedside table... good for night reading.) So, whatever... I hope you guys get the point. Maybe I should change my habit or something... I'm so excited to finish another book!
Yep, after weeks of waiting... I'm finally employed!!! :) I took a job in a Neuro Med-Surg floor at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. It's like a 25-minute drive from our apartment in LA. I don't really care as long as I start working. The New Grad Program is not starting until April though... so, I'm back to sitting around, haha! :)
Sooooo, I've been watching One Tree Hill episodes since... I don't know... Monday??? Hahaha! It's a non-stop marathon, and I love it! :D I wish I got married when I was 16 with a very macho guy like Nathan. Nathan and Haley are sooo cute! :)
Anyway, I'm still NOT working. I hate it, but what can I do? They don't want new grads. It's their loss not mine... I'm a very hardworking and charming person! Hahahaha! When I was doing my clinical rotations, my patients LOVED me! My preceptors never complained about me and I actually LIKED what I was doing. Right now, I feel like I don't know where I'm heading. It sucksssssss!!! :(
ABOUT THE SONG: One of my favorite songs from the musical HAIRSPRAY. :D
PART ONE: FEBRUARY 9, 2008 (Saved as draft...) NO PICS. :(
My friends and I "celebrated" Valentine's Day last Saturday (instead of Thursday because we're all in Vegas that weekend). We went out for dinner... *AHEM* It took us 4 hours to decide where to eat---I'm not even exaggerating... Bellagio Buffet? Rainforest? Olives? Spago? Il Mulino? Nope! Nope! Nope! Hahaha! :D So finally, we settled for Cheesecake Factory at Caesar's Palace (because some of us were craving for Bang Bang Chicken & Shrimp, Sweet Corn Tamales, and cheesecake). Plus, CF is cheap and very satisfying; definitely a comfort food!
I just want to say that we had THE BEST SERVER EVVVVER (again, not exaggerating)---Steven! Wooohooo! :) He was super bubbly and gay! I love it! And very efficient, too. We were never thirsty and everything was served in a timely manner. Also, he gave us a free slice of cheesecake... he wanted to prove that Vanilla Bean was better than Original. Note: I still like the Original one. We became so so so fond of him that we gave him a $40 tip (20%). We call it "dulo," popularized by yours truly. Haha... Steven telling us we're getting a free slice, Me: "ayyy, malaki ang dulo nito!" Everyone else: "ayyyy, oo nga, bigyan ng malaking dulo."
After our VERY big meal, we headed over to Palazzo. We checked it out and hated the carpet and mirrors (except for Karl, haha). Everything looked so dated and plain. No "Wow Factor" at all. I was definitely impressed when the Wynn opened years ago... but not this time. Anyway, we went around... bought some gelato (as if cheesecakes were not enough)... and window shopped for engagement rings! Haha! Yes! Perfect for this time of the year... I don't know why we did that but it was fun! The rings were super gorgeous and probably cost A LOT. Yeah, any girl would be lucky to have one of those emerald cut three diamond rings. :D
Anyway, we were dead tired after that... and Maki (who ordered a Mojito at CF) looked like she's ready to hit the sack. So we went home chilled at the Bernardo's and watched all the Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara episodes (why I love DVRs). I have to admit the series was pretty entertaining and scary. Haha! We went home, probably, 5:30-ish am.
PART TWO: FEBRUARY 16, 2008
Plan A: Go to Vegas and attend Tita Beth's V-day party.
Plan B: Go snowboarding in Big Bear with the Bernardos and my brother's EMT friends.
Plan C: Go to Santa Catalina Island. DING DING DING!!! Jackpot... finally.
YES! So finally, after much deliberation... we all decided to go to Catalina. It is located 22 miles off the California coastline. It' soooo beautiful there... definitely an answer to the question, "what is your perfect date?" HAHAHAHAH!!! Cheesy!!! :D But, nope, REALLY... I can smell romance everywhere. I thought I was in another country or something... TANGENT: Joke time.
K: Sige, mag-Catalina na lang tayo! Isee: *NR* M: Ayoko!!! Hindi ko dala greencard ko! Isee: *Weird look to M* K: Bobo! Hindi mo kailangan ng greencard... M: Ha? Sa Mexico yun, diba?
Excuse the "bobo" language, they're siblings... so they're allowed to do that. :D
Anyway, back to my story... we had a little picnic near the beach. We ate deli, baguette, grapes, provolone, american white, donuts, foccacia and balsamic, and pepsi... basically, like a cheese & wine party minus the wine! Hah! :D After lunch, we rented bikes and went around Avalon. I really enjoyed that! :) After "exploring," we shopped for souvenirs. We all got hoodies that say, "Lifeguard: Catalina Island." It's actually ironic... because I don't know how to swim!!! Hahaha! :D Don't look at me when someone is drowning... bring them back to shore first then I'll do CPR (I'm definitely certified to do that)! So, anyway, our trip back to the mainland was scheduled for 7:30pm. The line was suuupppppper long when we arrived at the dock. Good thing we purchased "Commodore's Lodge" tickets... we didn't have to line up and wait, thank God for priority seating. :) We arrived in San Pedro like 50 minutes later... I thought the trip back was shorter. Anyway, we were, again, dead tired after our mini-trip. We got home 9-10-ish. I'll definitely go back to Catalina... I still want to experience Nautilus and go whale watching! :D
The characteristics of #6 are: Responsibility, protection, nurturing, community, balance, sympathy.
The expression or destiny for #6: The number 6 Expression provides you a truly outstanding sense of responsibility, love, and balance. The 6 is helpful and ever conscientious, making you quite capable of rectifying and balancing any sort of inharmonious situation. You are a person very much inclined to give help and comfort to those in need. You have a natural penchant for working with the old, the young, the sick, or the underprivileged (This is WHY I'm a nurse, heh!). Although you may have considerable creative and artistic talents, the chances are that you will devote yourself to an occupation that shows concern for the betterment of the community.
The positive side of the number 6 suggests that you are very loving, friendly, and appreciative of others. You have a depth of understanding that produces much sympathetic, kindness, and generosity. The qualities of the 6 make the finest and most concerned parent and one often deeply involved in domestic activities (haha! I knew it... I'm TOO domesticated, ready na ako maging housewife!). Openness and honesty is apparent in your approach to all relationships.
If there is an excess of the number 6 in your makeup, you may exhibit some of the negative traits associated with this number. There may be a tendency for you to be too exacting and demanding of yourself. In this regard, you may at times sacrifice yourself (or your loved ones) for the welfare of others. In some cases, the over zealous 6 has difficulty distinguishing helping from interfering. You may have difficulty expressing your own individuality, because of involvement with responsibilities and causes. Like all with the Expression of the number 6, it's quite likely that you worry much too much.
Your Soul Urge number is: 5 (I SUPER agree with this! :D)
A Soul Urge number of 5 means: The 5 soul urge or motivation would like to follow a life of freedom, excitement, adventure and unexpected happening. The idea of travel and freedom to roam intrigues you. You are very much the adventurer at heart. Not particularly concerned about your future or about getting ahead, you can seem superficial and unmotivated.
In a positive sense, the energies of the number 5 make you very adaptable and versatile. You have a natural resourcefulness and enthusiasm that may mark you as a progressive with a good mind and active imagination. You seem to have a natural inclination to be a pace-setter. You are attracted to the unusual and the fast paced (reminds me of NYC).
You may be overly restless and impatient at times. You may dislike the routine work that you are engaged in, and tend to jump from activity to activity, without ever finishing anything. You may have difficulty with responsibility. You don't want to be tied down to a relationship, and it may be hard to commit to one person (paano ako magiging housewife niyan?).
Your Inner Dream number is: 1
An Inner Dream number of 1 means: You dream of being a leader and one who is in charge. You want to be known for your courage, daring, and original ideas. You seek unconquered heights. People may get a first impression that you are very aggressive and sure of yourself.
Haha! I thought I was in Manhattan for a minute... too much cars and people---well, duh, rush hour!!! I thought I was going to die! Thank you God for saving my life, haha! Anyway, aside from that... today was another day wasted. BLAH. I did absolutely nothing... I woke up at 10? or 11? Then had breakfast/lunch (bowl of cereal), then dropped off my Dad's car to the dealership (to get it fixed), and watched TV (All Access, History Channel, and Bravo)... yeah, that's about it. (My daily agenda for the last three weeks, haha!) I'm kind of tired of it already, BUT, I'm left with no choice... I don't have my Cali license yet! I can work in Nevada, but not in Cali. :( How long will this madness go on (or lack thereof, haha)? Sigh.
In other news, my sister and I are driving to Las Vegas tomorrow! Yeheeeesss!!! Hopefully, my mom doesn't throw a "bitch fit" and allow us to go tomorrow afternoon. If she gets all cranky, we'll mostly likely leave Saturday morning (then go back to LA Sunday morning). :( If you ask me, that's just too short of a visit!
Brad Renfro then Heath Ledger???? What the hell? Who's next? Britney Spears? Poor Matilda Rose... :( Anyway, my favorite HL movie would definitely be The Patriot. (Awesome movie about the "American Revolutionary War!") ...
