A Chorus Line

In an empty theatre, on a bare stage, casting for a new Broadway musical is almost complete. For 17 dancers, this audition is the chance of a lifetime. It’s what they’ve worked for—with every drop of sweat, every hour of training, every day of their lives. It’s the one opportunity to do what they’ve always dreamed—to have the chance to dance.

This is A Chorus Line, the musical for everyone who’s ever had a dream and put it all on the line. Winner of nine Tony Awards, including “Best Musical” and the Pulitzer Prize for drama, this singular sensation is the longest-running American Broadway musical ever. Now A Chorus Line returns. Come meet the new generation of Broadway’s best.

My friends and I couldn't stop singing her LB song after the show... "single, single, over, over---AGAIN!" Anyway, the show was good, I liked it... it had a good balance of...

Finally, after 22 years... her wish came true! :) TEAR.
Yes, I went straight from work! I wanted to see Christel before she leaves this Saturday, so, that was like our last goodbye. I also met her classmates from college and made new friends which is always fun and exciting! :D
PS: WEIRD... but funny. My mom and dad are having a serious talk about Barstow's "human age."

For someone I know...

... who's deeply "in love." HAHAHA!!! I don't even know if I can mention your name here, but whatever! The point is YOU like someone and YOU need to tell him/her FASSSSTTTT! I'm currently reading LOVE IN THE TIME OF CHOLERA, and my god!!! It took Fermina and whoever-the-guy-is 50 plus years to be together! WHAT THE HELL! Life is short, go for the gold... you'll know when you know, you know??? AS IF I know ANYTHING about love, HAH! Well, anyway, I enjoyed reading your blog... I was frickin' smiling the whole time!!!! SERIOUSLY. :D Big smile. Plus, it was so weird... "Tell You Something" by Alicia Keys was playing on the background when I was reading it, WEIRD. It's a perfect song for you! Sooooo, here... I want you to listen to it... and I'm sure you're going to say how corny/cheesy/bllllleeechhh I am. HAHA!!! But, we've known each other for over *thinks* THIRTEEN YEARS... so, WHATEVER. I'm just happy for you... kahit hindi mo ako chinismisan! Hahaha!!!

Once (Original Soundtrack)

"A television director and two musicians have made a miracle of a movie that is both fairy tale and slice of life." - Bill White, Seattle Post-Intelligencer

Yeah, I pretty much agree with "Bill"... the movie was romantic, but it still had touches of reality. The movie won an Academy Award for Best Original Song ("Falling Slowly")... I saw their acceptance speech and I felt bad for Marketa because she didn't have time to say her thank you's (Hansard took waaay too long to finish his). Anyway, after the commercial break, the producers allowed Marketa to have her "moment"... I thought that was sweet. Anyway, that's not the point of this post... it's their music, so, here are my faves: All the Way Down, Falling Slowly, If You Want Me, Lies, and When Your Mind's Made Up.

The book was alright... I mean, if you don't like history, you'll be dead bored! :) But, I like history, so... I enjoyed reading it! I looked at it as if I'm reading the latest issue of People magazine. Haha! Anyway, the book was (obviously) about the American Revolutionary War... my favorite parts were Battle of Dorchester, capture of Fort Washington (in NY!), and of course the tales of the fallen heroes (ex: Nathan Hale: he was described as being "handsome"...naawa tuloy ako when he died! Haha!).
(It's always like that anyway... book better than the movie version.) But, anyway, bottom line, I recommend this book/movie to everyone... you can't miss this!
***SPOILER***
Awww, I was so touched when Amir was reading Hassan's last letter and when he "adopted" Hassan's little boy, Sohrab. I was crying like shiiiiit... those were the best parts. And also, when Amir was carving "Amir and Hassan: The Sultans of Kabul" on a tree, and, and ... and... when Amir read Hassan's favorite story because it was his birthday... and, HAHA! Well, actually all the scenes where they showed Amir and Hassan's beautiful friendship, I think those were the best!!! :)
"FOR YOU, A THOUSAND TIMES OVER."

These passions, like great winds, have blown me hither and thither, in a wayward course, over a great ocean of anguish, reaching to the very verge of despair.
I have sought love, first, because it brings ecstasy - ecstasy so great that I would often have sacrificed all the rest of life for a few hours of this joy. I have sought it, next, because it relieves loneliness--that terrible loneliness in which one shivering consciousness looks over the rim of the world into the cold unfathomable lifeless abyss. I feel so dumb now! Soooo, I decided to take up a new hobby--one that would MILDLY exercise and increase the blood flow in my brain... READING!!!! :D Yey!
I just finished my first book for this year... FLUSH by Carl Hiaasen. I liked it... I mean, the story was fast-paced, TIGHT (I mean, concise or straight to the point), and of course SMART. I hate it when authors add senseless paragraphs just to make their novels loooooong, just for the heck of it to make me miserable and bored to death... *sigh*
Anyway, I usually switch between books when I read. I don't know why... it's just MY thing! Hahah! That's the reason why it takes me a while before I could ever finish one! (Note: Well, actually because I leave these certain books in certain places... I only prop them open when they end up close to me.
Yep, after weeks of waiting... I'm finally employed!!! :) I took a job in a Neuro Med-Surg floor at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. It's like a 25-minute drive from our apartment in LA. I don't really care as long as I start working. The New Grad Program is not starting until April though... so, I'm back to sitting around, haha! :)

ABOUT THE SONG: One of my favorite songs from the musical HAIRSPRAY. :D

PART ONE: FEBRUARY 9, 2008 (Saved as draft...) NO PICS. :(

My friends and I "celebrated" Valentine's Day last Saturday (instead of Thursday because we're all in Vegas that weekend). We went out for dinner... *AHEM* It took us 4 hours to decide where to eat---I'm not even exaggerating... Bellagio Buffet? Rainforest? Olives? Spago? Il Mulino? Nope! Nope! Nope! Hahaha! :D So finally, we settled for Cheesecake Factory at Caesar's Palace (because some of us were craving for Bang Bang Chicken & Shrimp, Sweet Corn Tamales, and cheesecake). Plus, CF is cheap and very satisfying; definitely a comfort food!

I just want to say that we had THE BEST SERVER EVVVVER (again, not exaggerating)---Steven! Wooohooo! :) He was super bubbly and gay! I love it! And very efficient, too. We were never thirsty and everything was served in a timely manner.
Today's Mini-adventure

Isee had braved the streets of downtown LA.

Pic: Figueroa St. and Wilshire Blvd.

Haha! I thought I was in Manhattan for a minute... too much cars and people---well, duh, rush hour!!! I thought I was going to die! Thank you God for saving my life, haha! Anyway, aside from that... today was another day wasted. BLAH. I did absolutely nothing... I woke up at 10? or 11? Then had breakfast/lunch (bowl of cereal), then dropped off my Dad's car to the dealership (to get it fixed), and watched TV (All Access, History Channel, and Bravo)... yeah, that's about it. (My daily agenda for the last three weeks, haha!) I'm kind of tired of it already, BUT, I'm left with no choice... I don't have my Cali license yet! I can work in Nevada, but not in Cali. :( How long will this madness go on (or lack thereof, haha)? Sigh.

In other news, my sister and I are driving to Las Vegas tomorrow!
